Costco's Children's Miracle Network Business Days
San Antonio Independent Living Services (SAILS) partnered once again with COSTCO for one of the Children's Miracle Network Business Days as vendors at the COSTCO store located at Sontera Park on Saturday, May 16th. SAILS and many other businesses were positioned inside the store to provide shoppers with tasty foods, fascinating wares and information on services and programs. SAILS staff provided a new display board with programs and services that included photos of annual activities. Plenty of newsletters and brochures were distributed to COSTCO customers.
SAILS staff is very pleased to be able to connect with various community businesses and agencies while sharing information that might benefit individuals with disabilities. All in all, it was a great way for SAILS to reach out to Costco customers and to the community! Thanks COSTCO for letting SAILS participate in the Children's Miracle Network Business Days!
SAILS' Technology Workshop Benefits Consumers as well as Professionals
SAILS had a super "turnout" for our Assistive Technology Workshop on April 22, 2009. Consumers were provided with the most up-to-date information on technology covering a wide range of needs for persons with disabilities. Workshop participants learned about the latest video relay phone technology benefiting persons who are deaf.
Lori Crownover of SAILS, also spoke about SAILS' Specialized Telecommunications Program (STAP) which provides free phone equipment for Texas residents who have disabilities.
Representatives from The Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), Lighthouse for the Blind, Project Mend, Communcations Services for the Deaf (CSD), Sorenson Video Relay presented valuable information on their services or programs. The Assistive Technology Workshop was well received by consumers with many types of disabilities. It was also a great opportunity for professionals to network and, in turn, develop more efficient ways to assist consumers.
Anyone needing more information on the agencies which participated in these workshops, can contact Lori Crownover at SAILS, 210.281.1878 ext. 22.
